Warranty Information

At Elmira Home Comfort, we strive to provide high-quality products and exceptional service. Below is detailed information regarding warranties for the products we sell, including coverage, exclusions, and contact details.

Warranty Overview

New, Clearance, Floor Model, and Scratch & Dent Appliances:

  • All these products come with a minimum 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. Elmira Home Comfort does not control manufacturer policies and procedures.

Pre-Owned and Refurbished Appliances:

  • These products come with a 30-day local store warranty (some exceptions apply). This warranty includes parts and labor but excludes certain components (e.g., clocks, timers, water, and ice systems). Pre-owned and refurbished appliances are sold cosmetically "AS IS."

  • Some refurbished appliances are final sale without warranty. This will be disclosed to the customer before purchase and noted on the sales receipt.

Transportation Requirements for Fridges and Freezers

  • To maintain warranty coverage, fridges and freezers must be transported in an upright position.
  • If transported on their side, the unit must remain upright for at least 48 hours before being plugged in. Failure to do so will void the warranty.
  • Compressors in these appliances contain oil that may flow into refrigerant lines when laid down. Plugging in the unit before the oil returns to the compressor can cause permanent damage or cooling issues.
  • Straps for upright transport can be purchased at the time of pickup for $10 per strap.

Exclusions from Warranty Coverage

The following are not covered under any warranty:

  1. Consequential Damages:

    • Loss of food due to appliance failure.

    • Water damage caused by leaks or malfunctions.

    • Damage to property or personal items.

  2. Improper Use or Installation:

    • Damage resulting from incorrect installation or use not in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.

  3. Wear and Tear:

    • Cosmetic imperfections such as scratches, dents, or discoloration.

    • Normal wear and tear of parts.

  4. Acts of Nature:

    • Damage caused by fire, floods, lightning, or other natural events.

  5. Unauthorized Repairs:

    • Repairs or modifications made by anyone other than authorized technicians.

    • Any remaining warranty is void if outside individuals or technicians perform repairs.

  6. Excluded Components:

    • Clocks, timers, water dispensers, and ice makers for pre-owned or refurbished appliances.

Customer Responsibilities

To maintain warranty coverage, customers are responsible for:

  • Proper installation and usage in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.

  • Routine maintenance and cleaning of the appliance.

  • Promptly reporting any issues within the warranty period.

  • Ensuring the appliance is fully assembled and accessible for service.

Transferability

Warranties are non-transferable and apply only to the original purchaser. Any sale or transfer of ownership voids the warranty.

Limitation of Liability

Elmira Home Comfort is not responsible for:

  • Any incidental or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the product.

  • Additional costs such as transportation, retrieval, or delivery fees associated with warranty service.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

  1. Manufacturer’s Warranty Claims:
